Sonik SKS Dayshelter
If you’re looking for a high quality day shelter for all your sort session and mobile angling, but you don’t want something that is going to break the bank, then this offering from Sonik is the perfect option for you. Sonik is a brand that has set its stall designing top level gear at mid-entry level prices and this SKS Dayshelter is no different. This is a uniquely designed shelter, the perfect in-between for the angler who wants something larger than a brolly without the bulk of the bivvy, and it has been built to the standards you’ll have come to expect from Sonik.
The Sonik SKS Dayshelter has been manufactured from 210 denier polyester, which offers a hydrostatic head of 5,000mm. This is more than enough to cope with even the heaviest UK downpour and it ensures that the weight of the shelter is kept low enough that it is a viable option for the mobile angler. The 6061 aluminium poles also walk this line between weight saving and highly durable and the whole shelter comes in at a little over 5kg. This ensures that you’re able to use this shelter in the same way as a standard brolly – quickly and easily moving it between swims in order to keep on top of the fish – whilst also providing you with a heavier duty form of protection most often associated with a bivvy system.
The Sonik SKS Dayshelter is a very versatile shelter and it is able to offer two different roof heights, thanks to the adjustable tensioning strap. This means that if you are a taller angler, or you like to spend your time on the bank sat in a full chair rather than a small low chair, you can still enjoy plenty of headroom and you won’t feel as if you need to hunch over. Its size can more than comfortably accommodate a bedchair and, because this shelter is deep, you can push your bedchair right back in order to turn the Sonik SKS Dayshelter into an open fronted overnight shelter. The shelter comes with its very own PU groundsheet too. This is ideal for use when you arrive on the bank after a heavier rain and you’re looking for somewhere dry to store your gear. It is also the perfect choice for the angler who likes to keep the cold and damp out from under their feet in the colder months too. However, unlike some day shelters the groundsheet is not integral to the tensioning of the shelter and you can just as easily use it without the sheet – ideal for the warmer summer months. The Sonik SKS Dayshelter has also been fitted with a rear vent. This is ideal for when you’re angling in the warmer months and the wind is on your back, as it allows wind to breeze through the bivvy, keeping you cool when things heat up.
One of the biggest benefits of the Sonik SKS Dayshelter is its ultra-speedy setup. With a twin rib construction, you won’t be struggling on the bank with multiple pole connectors. It comes supplied with a full range of Sonik heavy duty pegs and the whole outfit is finished in a stunning carpy green, so it will perfectly complement you existing carp fishing luggage. A rod retainer strap on the front has been designed to secure your Sonik carp rod in place whilst you re-rig between takes, too.
Sonik is a brand which is famous for its high quality carp rods and reels and it is firmly on the pedestal as one of the finest British brands out there
