Century NG (Next Generation) SU (Stepped Up) Rods - 2014 Model
This is the 2014 version of the Century NG SU – a stepped up version of the classic Next Generation rod series from the brand. This rod has been purpose designed as a medium or intermediate rod and it has proved itself on the bank as an outstanding all rounder. Next Generation carp rods have been in production since the mid 1990s, when Century first began its relationship with Frank Warwick, and this 2014 model shows all the development that you would expect from a product that has benefited from two decades of attention.
The first of these improvements is the carbon fibre construction and manufacture of the blank. Computer aided design and manufacture has ensured that each rod is manufactured to the same high standards as the rod before – a previously impossible feat with hand manufactured rods. The Century NG SU boasts ATT anti twist technology, as well as autoclave, both of which ensure that the rod can resist impressive amounts of torque in order to built power more effectively. This means that these rods are impressive when it comes to distance casting and the stepped up NG rods are perfect for medium and long range casting. The NG SU has been designed for use on venues where shock leaders and other leaders are banned and the blank has been purpose built to ensure that neither the blank nor your line sustain damage when you’re distance casting.
The handle of the Century NG SU is abbreviated and the butty section features a reinforcing 2K carbon weave. Further up the rod you’ll notice 1K carbon weave, too, and the whole rod has been coated in an anti-scratch material to ensure that this rood will look as good in a decade as it does today. A ball stop on the rod ensures that you’ll never loose your rod to the lake, even when you encounter an aggressive take on a snaggy swim.
