Cliff Fox founded his fishing brand in the 1960s with the humble beginnings in a small Essex workshop with always having practically at heart when designing tackle. Now, the Fox International brand has grown to encompass multiple ranges and is one of the leading tackle manufacturers in Europe. With such a huge variety of products available there really is something for every angler – whether your discipline is in carp, match and coarse, sea and sport, predator, or modern lure fishing.

The Multi Tip Specialist Rod from the Fox Horizon X4 range is the perfect rod for the modern river specialist targeting barbel in the depths of the river. With a 12 foot length and a 2.25lbs test curve, the rod offers long-range casting with a flexibility that can handle taming to the most stubborn of fish.

The Horizon X4 range is quite possibly the highest quality barbel rods ever produced with a higher tonnage carbon used compared to previous Duo-Lite model, this specialist rod has multi-layered, angled carbon cloth provides strength and improved action.

Unlike some of the other specialist rods in the X4 rod range, this particular barbel rod is supplied with multiple tips to cover varying conditions that anglers may come across when at the bank. There is a solid tip that is perfect for a host of fish techniques including touch legering and bolt rig fishing, plus a quiver top section that is supplied with two push-in carbon quiver tips of 4oz and 6oz.

The includes quiver tips saves an extra expense and allows you to tailor the tips and rod to the leger or feeder, the flow of the river and the size of the fish you plan to catch. Carbon tips are very strong and take much more weight to bend so you can trust in the tips will get you the perfect distance to attract your new PB! This model is a great all-rounder that allows you to not only target large river barbel but also target other species such as specimen tench and bream.

In addition, the rod includes the Fox Slik double legged guides for increased stability and accuracy and a 17mm Fuji reel seat to securely fit your ideal reel. Fox also recommends using a mainline of 8-12lb monofilament. Another bonus is the very high-grade cork handle that is both lightweight and insulating for your hands.

Looks-wise, the specialist Fox rod displays understated graphics with a stylish matt black finish with black guides and reel seat. The matt finish is great for not causing a reflection from the sun to the river and potentially spooking some fish.

For a rod that will help land a barbel in your net, choose Fox.
