Greys GR75S Beach Rod
Greys is one of the most established angling brands in the UK and its roots trace right back to the late 1960s. Originally a fly fishing brand, producing a range of rods that garnered the brand a huge amount of respect in the community, it was quick to move into the sea fishing market and very soon its sea fishing rod range was one of the best loved in the UK of its time. Over the years the brand has established an impressive reputation of innovation and product excellence, all of which is self evident in this new range of beach rods – the Greys GRS.
This Greys GR75S Beach Rod is the smallest in the series and it has been designed with fishing for flatties in mind. It is also excellent for bass fishing and it can comfortably handle a whole range of surf and beach fishing techniques and tactics. The first thing that you’ll notice about this rod, as you will the entire series, is its ultra-slim blanks. These are not only incredibly classy but they are also fantastically lightweight, making them a dream to fish with in any scenario. The blanks offer a slow and progressive taper, too, giving the rod its spectacular medium fast action. It is this action which ensures that the rod can perform well across the beach fishing discipline – whether you’re dealing with heavy surf and long distance casting or you’re enjoying an easier day on the shore.
These blanks are constructed from top performing toreon nano carbon. This is Greys very own carbon material which offers the killer combination of strength and action. If you’re looking for a rod that lets you expertly control your capture, even in rough surf, then this is the perfect tool for you. Although this is a rod which is incredibly durable, this doesn’t mean that it has had to sacrifice any of the sensitivity or responsiveness that you would demand from a top performing surf rod. In fact, this rod has been fitted with a number of features which actually improve your ability to detect bites. One of these is its highlighted tip. This highlight ensures that you’re able to remain keenly aware of all the action under the water even when you’re fishing is low light levels. This allows you to respond positively to each and every take, improving your catch rate and ensuring that you don’t suffer from any disappointing missed opportunities.
The blank is finished with a full rubber shrink tube handle. This offers you fantastic grip when you need it the most and you won’t find this rod being pulled from your damp or cold hands. The guides on this rod have been manufactured by Fuji, as has the reel seat, which ensures that you can use a variety of line types to get the best results possible. The rod is also fitted with a hook keeper, which prevents your terminal tackle setup from slapping and clattering against the rod in transit – protecting it from the most common cause of minor accidental damage.
This Greys GR75S Beach Rod is 12ft and 9 inches. This is perhaps slightly shorter than your traditional beach casting rod but this doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to punch out past a heavy surf when you need to – thanks to the expert blank construction of the rod. It can comfortably cast weights between 4oz and 6oz, so you can use a variety of techniques, tactics, and lures in order to land your flatties and bass fish. This rod is a two piece construction, too, so it is easy to transport to and from the bank.
