The second thing you’ll notice will be the breathtaking quality of the rod blank. The blank has been created from HPC200 carbon. This means that the carbon in the blank has been subjected to extreme pressure during the curing process. This curing process is essential in rod construction and, in traditional rod construction, this normally just entails the heating of the carbon. However, this can cause the carbon resin to become unevenly distributed in the blank as it naturally rises to the outer edges of the rod. In HPC rod construction, however, this is completely avoided as the rod blank is put under high heat and high pressure simultaneously. This ensures that the resin remains evenly distributed right through the core of the rod. The result of this high pressure treatment is that the rod is up to 40% stronger than rods constructed in the traditional manner. To further strengthen the rod, Shimano has also added Biofibre. This is a natural fibre that adds additional structural integrity to the rod blank without impacting of the weight or diameter of the blank.

This spectacular blank is fitted with top quality Fuji components, including a Fuji DPS reel seat (to ensure full reel security even in the most demanding of situations) and six Fuji stainless steel alconite guides.
