AD Community Fund 2026 West Finalists

The West Region finalists showcase the many ways angling can have a positive impact on people's lives beyond simply catching fish.

From supporting mental wellbeing and recovery to improving community facilities and accessibility, these projects are using angling to bring people together, build confidence and create welcoming opportunities for more people to enjoy the sport.

Take a look at the three shortlisted West Region projects below and find out how your vote could help support a project making a real difference in your community.

Fish4Recovery

Fish4Recovery is a charity that uses angling as a powerful tool to support people recovering from addiction and managing mental health challenges. Through free and accessible fishing sessions, participants are provided with a positive environment where they can build routine, develop confidence and reconnect with healthier activities.

The project offers more than simply the opportunity to fish. It creates a supportive community where individuals can share experiences, learn new skills and develop positive habits that contribute to long term wellbeing. By helping people engage with angling in a safe and welcoming setting, Fish4Recovery is demonstrating the important role that the sport can play in supporting recovery and personal development.

Peatmoor Angling Club

Peatmoor Angling Club plays an important role in maintaining its fishery and providing opportunities for people of all ages to get involved in fishing. The project will support the installation of a secure storage facility, helping volunteers safely manage and access the equipment used for fishery maintenance, habitat improvements and junior coaching activities.

While the improvement may take place behind the scenes, it will have a significant impact on the club's ability to continue delivering valuable activities for the local community. By improving efficiency and protecting essential equipment, the project will help ensure the club can continue supporting young anglers, volunteers and the wider fishing community for many years to come.

Seven Lakes Fishery

Seven Lakes Fishery is committed to making fishing more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. The project focuses on improving pathways and fishing areas across the venue, creating a safer and more inclusive environment for anglers of all ages and abilities.

The planned improvements will help remove barriers that can prevent people from taking part in fishing, particularly those with mobility challenges or limited experience of the sport. By creating easier access to the water and more user-friendly facilities, the project aims to encourage greater participation through beginner sessions, community events and regular fishing opportunities, helping more people discover the benefits of spending time outdoors and getting involved in angling.
