Fishing has always been more than just a hobby. For many anglers, it’s an essential escape from the pressures of modern life and a chance to reconnect with nature, enjoy the fresh air and spend time with friends and family,
Every angler has their own way of enjoying the sport, and the sense of connection is what makes the angling community so special. It brings people together, supports wellbeing, and creates lifelong memories. But like our rivers, lakes, and canals, the community we care about also faces challenges. Environmental pressures, reduced access, and barriers that prevent newcomers from getting involved all threaten the future of the sport we love.
That’s why we’re proud to introduce the Angling Direct Community Fund. This new initiative has been created by Angling Direct and AD Win in Collaboration to support grassroots angling projects, protect and improve fisheries, and help grow participation in angling of all kinds across the UK.
Funding for the initiative is being generated through several sources, including a commitment that at least 5% of all ticket sales from the AD Win competitions website will go directly into the Community Fund.
For the first round of applications in 2026, a £20,000 funding pot has been created to support impactful community projects. In addition to our existing commitments.
These include partnerships with the Angling Trusts "Anglers Against Pollution” campaign, alongside support for organisations and programmes like the Anglers National Line Recycling Scheme, and the “Let’s Fish!” campaign. Each of these initiatives plays a key role in protecting fisheries, improving the environment, and helping more people discover angling.

Fishery Improvement
This could include habitat work, fish stock improvements, otter fencing, peg development, or other venue upgrades.
Wellbeing Projects
This may include improving accessibility for disabled anglers, running outreach events, or projects designed to support mental health.
Grassroots Initiatives
Funding that helps introduce more people to fishing. Including junior coaching programmes, new fishing venues, or initiatives designed to get beginners involved in the sport.

Successful projects will clearly show:
- A strong project idea with a clear purpose
- A realistic plan for delivery
- A clear benefit to the wider angling community
Realistic costs and timelines
Applicants are also encouraged to contribute towards their project where possible, whether through volunteer time, fundraising, materials, or additional funding support.

The Angling Direct Community Fund is about listening to the people who know angling best, the anglers, clubs and organisations that make up our community. We want to hear your ideas and learn what matters most to you. Your input will help shape how the fund supports local projects, improves access to fishing and protects our fisheries. The future of angling should be shaped by the people who love the it most.
