How To Set Up A Running Rig For Carp – Carp Fishing Quickbite

As an often-overlooked rig for the popular lead clip and helicopter setups, the running rig is still an incredibly effective rig that many carp anglers benefit from. In this How-To Guide, we will show you how to set up an easy running rig for carp.

Why Use a Running Rig for Carp Fishing?

The main benefit of the carp running rig is that bite indication is vastly improved. With a direct connection between the mainline, rig and hook, any movement of the rig and hookbait results in indication back at the buzzer and bobbin. On many pressured waters, the carp will shake their heads violently once hooked, which often sees the hook thrown from the fish’s mouth. Where carp associate this head shaking with getting away with it, a running rig is a great option, as it completely confuses the hooked fish.
