EACH Charity Carp Fishing Fundraiser

Back in October, members of the Angling Direct team, lead by Norwich store manager Andy Flint, and Phoexnix Gym took part in a charity carp fishing match to raise money for EACH – East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.

The match comprised of 12 anglers, three pairs from each business, and was fished over a 48 hour period on Norfolk’s Coston Day Ticket Lake. The prize? Bragging rights, and a trophy to match.

In the end the result went one way, with the Phoenix Gym team managing four carp for a combined total of 90lb, compared to Angling Direct’s rather embarrassing blank… however I have been told this was due to a very unlucky peg draw at the start!

The event was fished in great spirits. Some cracking fish were banked and good fun was had by all, BUT the main aim of the event was to raise money for EACH.

After counting every last penny from all the competitors and sponsors, today we were proud to hand over a cheque to the Charity’s representative, James Bacon. We raised an outstanding total of £3,620!

James commented – “On behalf of everyone at EACH, we’d just like to say a massive thanks to everyone at Angling Direct and Phoenix Gym who’s been involved with the event and in raising such an amazing amount of money.

We are currently in the process of raising funds for our ‘Nook’ appeal, which will hopefully see the building of a brand new hospice on the outskirts of Norwich.”

The charity, whose patron is the Duchess of Cambridge, are looking to fundraise over the next few years to try to reach their target of 10 million pounds and expand the already fantastic work they do across East Anglia. If you’d like to get involved, or donate in anyway you can, find out all the details on their website…

Finally, Everyone at Angling Direct would like to say a massive thanks to everyone who sponsored the event or pledged any money towards the charity. We look forward to continue and grow our relationship with what we believe is a great cause.
