If you need a feeder rod for big demanding rivers like the Trent or more intimate venues like the Gloucester Canal or Evesham, these feeder rods from Daiwa are worth adding to the shopping cart! This review will cover 3 feeder rods from Daiwa Tournament series; the Pro Feeder Quiver, the Pro Feeder and the SLR feeder rods.

The Daiwa Tournament Pro series of rods have been designed for those anglers at the top of their game and wanting tackle to meet their needs. These Daiwa Tournament Pro Feeder Quiver Rods are built around the HVF nanoplus carbon technology, offering extreme strength and flexibility.

The high volume fibre of the rod ensures remarkable tensile strength and power but at featherweight levels. The Quiver rods are furnished with LS Zirconia guides that allow for controlled casting and line control which is also assisted with the Tournament reel seat.

Rather notable is the rod's exquisite handle design which is a combination of Armlock in high-grade EVA and subtle cork. This offers the best of both worlds with the insulation properties of cork and durability of the EVA material.

If that was not enough, the Pro Feeder rod is finished with anodised red metal touches and the iconic Tournament logo which is also embossed into the handle. The rod comes as 12ft 6inches with a casting weight of 100g, or 13ft 6iinch option that has a casting weight of 120g. Both versions are three-section rods and come supplied with CT quiver tips, ideal for coarse angling.

It is a beast of a rod with phenomenal casting power while keeping a sensible medium action, which means the fish playing of even small, soft-mouthed fish like Skimmers isn’t hindered. Large, braid-friendly guides aid casting ability and, with the correct tackle, the rod has allowed me to throw feeder to distances of 80 yards without breaking a sweat.

The key difference that I think you pay the premium for is the quality of the blank. Its recovery after casting is unbelievable, improving accuracy. Also, when playing a fish it is notable just how forgiving it is.

The reel seat and handle is a novel designs, featuring a clasp mechanism that locks the reel in place. I have never had a problem with a standard slide or screw-in reel seat but I can see the thinking behind this, not only for locking the reel in place when extreme casts are the challenge, but it looks pretty great too.

Hailed by many as the best feeder rods ever. The Daiwa team has improved the SLR blank with a hi-tech cocktail of the new torque-busting X45X Full Shield and HVF nano plus.

With prototypes tested and fined tuned, the outcome has been nothing short of exceptional. Each model now harnesses even more casting energy and is able to deliver those big payloads, more accurately at distance. Refinement has also reached the quiver tips with a new SLR series. Guide positions have been adjusted with an additional guide applied nearer the tip.
