How to Bait Up With Squid - QuickBite
Squid is a highly effective bait in UK waters, if you’re out in the boat, or on the beach, targeting cod, rays or smoothhound, be sure to take some squid with you, as it proves popular amongst those species.
As highlighted in the video, cut length ways along the squid’s mantle, to remove a section of squid for your hookbait. Pass the hook and mainline through the squid, before hooking into the flesh on the other side of the mantle. Whilst your hook hold will be strong, the rest of the mantle will act like a sail in the wind, which can be a nightmare when casting, to avoid this ensure that you wrap bait elastic around your hookbait, not only making your hookbait more aerodynamic for casting but also concealing your hook somewhat.
