King of the Catch - Predator Winner, Barry Fisher

King of the Catch 2015, Predator Winner, Barry Fisher

Early Saturday morning our 2015 Predator King of the Catch, Barry Fisher, set off with his wife, Hannah, for the holiday of his dreams: a week fishing in Thailand. Barry won the predator competition last year with an incredible 714 votes for his 5lb 11oz eel. He has been an avid angler for many years, so he couldn’t quite believe it when he found out he won our competition, last September. He even commented that he was ‘blown away’ by the news – which takes some doing for a former RAF boy!

King-Of-The-Catch-Winner-5 Early reports from Thailand show that Barry and Hannah are already making some cracking catches. Both Barry and Hannah have already caught plenty of stunning redtails, including one whopper that tipped the scales at 45lb! They haven’t always come easy, though, and the Thai fish really have been putting the pair through their paces to avoid blanking. We’re keeping up with all of Barry’s catches on his Facebook. If you’d like to stay up to the minute with Barry’s angling action you can like his page... Barry Fisher - Apprentice Specimen Angler.

We can’t wait to hear the full report from Barry when he returns home at the end of the week.

If you’re reading this with jealous eyes, wishing you could go on a similar fishing holiday of a lifetime, then have we got news for you: our 2016 King of the Catch competition is currently open and ready for your entry! This year the predator category prize is bigger and better than ever: one week fishing on John Wilson’s private lake in Thailand! For full details about the holiday up for grabs you can check out our blog post.

King-Of-The-Catch-Winner-2King-Of-The-Catch-Winner-4 Our predator category is open to anglers of all abilities; simply enter a picture of you holding your pike, perch, zander, eels, or wels catfish for your chance to join angling legend John Wilson (MBE) on his private lake in Thailand. If predator fishing isn’t your cup of tea but you still want to be in with the chance to win an angling holiday of a lifetime then don’t worry. Our King of the Catch 2016 competition has prizes available for carp, coarse, and sea fishing fanatics. Brand new for 2016 we also have a junior anglers category, open for all anglers under the age of 14 no matter their discipline. Entries are open now and the votes are already rolling in thick and fast – what are you waiting for?
