In this fourth and final blog post I’m going to be focussing on the last few new products that are being added to Nash range. These products includes the exciting new S5R bite alarms, some revolutionary new carbon magnetic bank sticks and buzz bars, as well as a new range of Siren Optics indicators. Firstly I’ll focus on the former…

Nash S5R Bite Alarm

When Nash launched the first Siren Alarm (RS-1) it sent shockwaves through the bite alarm market, it was something different in both appearance and functionality and it soon became the new ‘must have’ alarm for the thousands of Nash tackle fans. A year or so later came the second Siren alarm, this was designed for the angler who wanted a Nash alarm, but couldn’t stretch to the price of the high end RS-1, this was equally as popular, but many felt there was still room for another model! Cue the brand new S5R, a model that settles nicely in-between the two existing models, both in price and functionality.

At around £50 the S5R is very competitively priced, especially when you delve into some of the features it has to offer! First of all these alarms can be used with a wireless receiver, infact there is a dedicated SR5 receiver on offer, which sells for a similar price to the individual heads. Secondly they feature all the things you’d expect on an alarm from Nash including volume, tone and sensitivity settings. Thirdly, unlike some other alarms in this market these little electrical gems are available in a variety of different LED colours, which is sure to be popular amongst many anglers. Lastly they are supplied in there very own hard cases with a protective carry case available as an optional extra to keep them safe and secure whilst in storage and transit.

I know everyone at Nash were very keen on these alarms and after a brief chat with both Alan Blair and Kevin himself, it was easy to see they held them in some regard! Here’s a few words from them…

‘We are launching two new bite alarms in the forthcoming months. First up is the S5R, which hopefully will be in time for Christmas. I say hopefully because it depends on whether UPS find our parcel of microchips which they have managed to loose somewhere in Hong Kong. But I digress…

Anyone who is looking for a pukka looking, high quality alarm with unrivalled remote performance, at the most affordable price, then here you go. The S5R heads and remote are £49.99 each – so you can get a 3 rod set up for under £200. I will make a claim which I am confident I can back up… compare our radio range with competitors, even ones costing £100 more, and we blow them out of the water by some 100meters or more! Of course I'm not condoning being up to 475YARDS! from your rods, but this massive range advantage also means more strength of signal to work through black spots, dug out swims and dense vegetation which leaves the competition silent.

Well worth checking out when they eventually arrive, assuming that those nice people at UPS give us our chips back!’

I must admit I was very impressed with these; after all you can purchase three quality alarms, in the LED colours you want, a wireless receiver and a carry case for around £200! Now that’s value for money!

Likes Superb price point, unbeatable receiver range, different colour LED’s available.

Dislikes Carry case has to be purchased separately.

Nash Magnetic Rod Support

Details on this new range are relatively sketchy at the moment, but basically in a nut shell the new range will consist of a selection of quality, lightweight carbon banksticks and buzz bars. The neat feature with these is that part of the buzz bars and banksticks are magnetic, meaning there’s no need for screw threads, the whole system will be extremely versatile and user friendly.

The finish and build quality of these looked absolutely superb and the range, when set up, looked absolutely stunning, this new range is definitely something to look out for!

Likes Lightweight, strong, extremely versatile and incredibly sexy!

Dislikes As you can imagine the ‘likes’ above do come at a price and that’s quite a hefty one.

Nash Siren Optics

Once again details on this range are also fairly sketchy, but in brief the Nash Siren Optics are a brand new set of indicators and accessories, designed to be used in conjunction with the Nash Siren alarms.

As you can see by the picture below the range isn’t huge, there aren’t hundreds of little fiddly accessories, it’s just the basics of what you need to create your own custom indicators. This includes all the popular things you’d expect to see, chains, cords, add-on weights and hockey sticks.

We did see a couple of the indicators set up and in use and they did look very practical and extremely smart, especially when matched up with the Siren alarms and cool new Magnetic rod support!

One feature that did look very cool was that on the new Nash alarms, if you use the Siren Indicator range, you can purchase a fibre optic cord that lights up your indicator every time your alarm goes off! This totally takes away the need for Isotopes, Beta lights and having separate indicators for daylight and darkness.

Likes Very compact range of indicators and accessories, the fibre optic feature looks particularly impressive!

Dislikes Another range of indicators in an already saturated market.
