It really is amazing what you can buy for your money these days, technology has moved so quickly and for a shade under £50 you can get your hands on an all-singing, all-dancing waggled rod like this one from Daiwa. A few years ago you'd have been paying way more for a rod of this quality and to be honest I didn't look at the price of this Harrier Waggler rod until after my session testing it at local commercial fishery, when I was shocked that it came in under £100, let alone £50.

I was fishing a 4g waggler at range and casting this to the same spot every time was easy using the Harrier. The great thing about this rod is that you feel in control when casting waggles and it's tippy action it great for setting those hooks at range.

It's lightweight construction gives you that 'feel' you need and it's able to handle large carp but also roach and bream, which I was catching one a chuck.

It's perfect for commercials when targeting silvers, but in the back of your mind you know you might hooks into a carp or two - the Harrier has the grunt to tame even the biggest commercial munter.

The rod's pick-up is great, just what you need when you have a lot of line out in front of you, but then the soft tip comes into its own when you're playing fish close in.

As well as its obvious casting and playing qualities the Harrier also looks the business, as we've come to expect from Daiwa. This rod not only performs like a rod of double the price point it also looks like one. Subtle graphics and a quality cork handle only add to the desirability of the Harrier and I'd be happy using this for most of my wagglier fishing on lakes and rivers.
