Taking it to the Extreme… The ACF team takes a look at the JRC Extreme TX Brolly, a full system that gives you all the comfort and stability of a bivvy with the lightweight nature of a brolly.
The invention of the space-saving central boss has hugely improved brolly technology, offering much better interior room with the same small footprint that everyone wanted for confined swims. The TX brolly system features that same space-saving inner frame with all the fixtures of a bivvy, including a multi-panel door option and groundsheet.
A particularly nice touch is the condensation guard that, once fitted by a simple toggle system, reduces condensation much like the twin skin in the bivvy. Add to this the magnetic storm poles that improve set-up time and you have a rather impressive package. Water simply beads off the 20,000 HH Hydra-Tex material, which is ideal if you get caught in a real downpour. The whole lot comes in an oversized heavy-duty zip bag, with storm poles and tent pegs included in the package.
