Wednesday Review... Sticky Baits Manilla

By the time you read this, one of the most eagerly awaited bait launches of all time will have taken place. Hopefully, your magazine even has a sample pack attached to it – if not, then speak to the shop where you bought it – and you can see and smell it for yourself.

Anglers the country over have been waiting for this for ages. Even we’ve had to wait in line, such has been the demand. At the time of writing, Sticky already had some 30-plus tonnes of pre-orders before it has even hit the shops.

So what makes it so special and why has Sticky even bothered producing another bait when so many anglers use the phenomenal Krill already?

As good as any bait is, no company is going to just produce one bait and one bait only. Sticky is no different and, along with requests from its customers for a nutty boilie, it spent over two years developing a completely new bait.

Sticky’s Tom Anderson, a stickler for detail and somebody who will not accept using anything other than the very best ingredients, painstakingly set about putting the mix together.

Several versions came and went, many of which most companies would have been happy with, but Tom was adamant that it would not be ‘signed off’ until it was absolutely right.

In the meantime, the word got out that Sticky’s new bait was in development and, among the rumours of what it might be made up from, demand started to build… and build. Over the period of development, Sticky’s team of anglers caught carp after carp after carp, further fuelling the anticipation among the masses. Last month, as I mentioned, it launched to a crescendo of approval and already with hundreds of captures to its credit.

Built around a nut base, and with an aroma that I defy anybody to look at it without wanting to taste it, the Manilla looks set to be one of the all-time classics. Imagine peanut butter, caramel and cream all rolled into one super-smooth-profiled bait.

I’m not one for the science of bait, I leave that to the experts. I stick to what I know and, in this case, what I know is that the Manilla is one of the very best baits I have ever come across, it will catch carp at all times of the year and is already causing anglers to ditch their current bait and jump on the bandwagon, which continues to gain pace.

I’ll leave you with one thought. Since Tom took over at Sticky and completely rebuilt the business it has been responsible for The Krill and now Manilla. That’s already some track record, which you have to give huge credit for and marvel at.
