Trot On & Alliance Charter Fishing Report – November

Over the last few weeks the weather has been pretty good enabling us to get out and get amongst the fish. Both boats, The Trot On and the Alliance have both had some good catches fishing amongst the offshore wrecks and the closer in-shore up-tiding marks. The Codling have been around in abundance and some nice fish have been landed on both boats.

Paul Eddon, skipper of the Trot-On, has really been concentrating on the offshore wrecks and he’s had some bumper days, with plenty of Cod and Ling well into double figures. When fishing the wrecks you can catch on all manner of different tactics, including rubbers and lures, but without doubt the most successful technique has simply been a whole Squid bait mounted on a big hook, something around 8/0.

On the Alliance, skipper Shaun Elwick, has been concentrating on the marks hard inside. This is an area Shaun specialises in - his family has a rich history in this field, with over 100 years of experience as in-shore fishermen. As expected he hasn't disappointed putting the anglers amongst lots of nice fish, with plenty around the 8-9lb mark.

At this time of year the fish are hungry and will eat most baits offerings, however cart, worm, squid and fresh mussel, or a nice cocktail of these are preferred.

Our annual up-tiding festival is now well underway and already the Alliance and Shaun are already in the lead with the heaviest bag of fish. With £1,000 top prize and a cash prize table down to 10th place it’s all to play for!

One thing thats worth noting, agreed by all boats and for conservation purposes, is that during the festival the size limits for Codling will be 40cm instead of the national minimum of 35cm.

If you want to book on for a few days fishing you can contact either of the skippers of our two charter boats.
