Trot On & Alliance Charter Fishing Report – November

We have had some shocking weather here in Whitby and the past month and a half has been very touch and go. However, when the boats have got out to sea they have had some belting days! In general, we’ve been seeing fish between 3lb and 8lb, which just goes to show that even through the weather hasn’t been great we’ve still had some cracking fish.

The uptiding is well away now and, although the weather has put the start of the uptiding festival on hold yet again, we are now looking to get away in the next few days – all being well! It’s been a main fixture of the Whitby angling calendar ever since the first winter uptiding festival in 2008 and it’s an event that I always look forward to. It’ll be great to get started with it, especially as the prize is a massive £1,000 to the angler who catches the biggest cod over the two week competition. Daily cash prizes and cash prizes for the biggest of other species make sure that this is a festival you won’t want to miss out on.

We will still be running the wrecking trips during the winter when conditions are suitable. We mostly work the wrecks "offside", approximately 20-30 miles from Whitby, but if there has been a big blow and the tides are big we are just as well dropping anchor hard inside – sometimes only 300 meters from the shoreline.

The hire gear provided by Angling Direct has still been going strong and we’ve been having some great feedback from all the customers. They’ve been taking their own photos this month and have some great catches to share from October!

If you want to book on for a few days of the festival, which runs until 20th November, you can contact either of the skippers of our two charter boats.
