Fox Rage: Bringing You The Cunning Arts of the Predator Craft

A strikingly lethal range of predator fishing tackle and accessories, Fox Rage gives you devastatingly focused performance for all your predator fishing, whether you're drop shotting into a crowded urban canal, or casting out across a shimmering urban lake, the pale light of a winter morning spread across the sky, the subtle, soft scent of bankside grass still wet with dew, and a wealth of predator possibilities cruising below the surface.

Predator species such as perch, pike, and zander are sly, wary creatures, who are incredibly experienced at getting the better of anglers.  If you want to enjoy success when you go fishing for these beasts of the deep, you need a tackle range that takes the frustration you feel at the thought of a mere fish getting the better of you, and the rage you experience when some complete Noddy down the bank brings up a bite through sheer luck, and despite shocking technique, while your carefully chosen bait and lure routine, adapted for the conditions of the day, and executed with finesse, nets you nothing but blanks, and channels it into a smooth performance that is virtually guaranteed to give you plenty of action, and all the bites you can handle, wherever you choose to hunt your  favourite hunters.

Prepared For Predators

So, what do you need to get started in predator fishing? Like all angling disciplines, the basic tackle set up is very simple: a strong rod, that's specifically tailored and balanced for predator fishing, a decent reel that gives you the flexibility you need for the various styles of predator fishing, from deadbaiting to light trotting lure work, a good sized landing net, ideally with rubber mesh, to avoid the treble hooks that are typically used in predator fishing snagging on your net mesh, and which is large enough to handle big, lively fish safely, and bring them to the bank quickly and smoothly, and a selection of lures. Even if you intend to use natural baits, either live or dead, having the option of artificial lures can help, particularly in cold weather, when many predators switch off from feeding, but will snatch at what appears to be a small, easily-digestible snack passing close enough that they don't have to put a lot of energy into grabbing it.

Keepnets are very much a no-no in predator fishing, as these fish become stressed very easily, and require much more oxygen than the smaller coarse species you'll be fishing at commercial match venues.  In predator angling, it is preferred that fish are unhooked in the water, if possible, and, where they must be unhooked on the bank,  a large, well-padded unhooking mat should be used.

Fox Rage: In Review

We've selected an example of each of the core pieces of predator fishing tackle from the Fox Rage range – a rod, reel, landing net, and lures – to give you a taste of what this dynamic, high-performance range has to offer, whether you're new to predator fishing, or have been working lures on banks up and down the country for years, and simply want to see what new tackle is available.

If you're ever passing through Norwich, or if you happen to live there, why not pop into Angling Direct on the Aylsham Road, and try out some lures in our lure tank, so you can see exactly how they'll move and look in the water, and make the most effective choice for your predator fishing.

Fox Rage Warrior Spin Rod

 Tell Me About It

Crafted from high-performance carbon, this predator rod is strong, yet lightweight, giving you the fishing power you need, whilst feeling good to handle, and moving easily and freely when you need to work a lure, or are engaged in challenging play with a lively fish.

Fox SLIK guides create an exceptionally balanced rod, something that's important when you're facing the heavy work that can be involved in predator fishing, and particularly when you've hooked into a large fish that's less than pleased with the turn of events, and is kicking off in quite spectacular style.

With a matte black blank and full cork handle, this spin fishing rod has striking, yet understated, cosmetics that will look good on the bank, whilst ensuring that your subsurface targets aren't spooked by glare or reflection from your tackle.

This is a short yet effective rod, avaialble in 7ft or 8ft options, with casting weights of 10-30g, or 15-50g, so you can choose the rod that best suits your fishing style, technique, and venue. In predator fishing, the shorter rods give greater strength, and allow enhanced control during play ins; predator anglers typically aren't having to make the distance casts associated with carp fishing, as pike and other predator species tend to prefer the margins, or crowded boat moorings on canals, broads, and similar waterways, none of which give anglers a lot of space to pull out the big tricks of impressive casting styles.  However, if you're fishing a large lake with a good head of pike, then the 8ft rod gives you the casting confidence you need to take on the venue, and its fish, in smooth, effortless style.

What Are People Saying?

The resounding feeling is that the Fox Rage Warrior Spin is a cracking lure rod, that's well made, with a nice action, and a great addition to any predator angler's tackle box.

 Tell Me About It

The perfect addition to your Fox Rage Warrior Spin Rod, this reel features a lightweight design that's perfect for all styles of lure work, with the 1000 size being perfectly balanced for stand-out drop shot performance.  The Warrior Spin Reel is also available in 2500 and 4000 options, so there's performance style to suit every predator angler, all at a good price, and presented in impressive, subtly striking style.

The EVA handle is easy to grip, allowing you the precision control of your line that predator angling demands.

What Are People Saying About It?

Predator anglers love this reel, finding it light enough to get a good lure action going, yet strong enough to give you complete confidence once you've hooked into a large fish.  The 1000 reel is very popular with anglers who like to use the drop shot technique, with the consensus being that this small reel packs more than enough performance to make the most of this relatively new tactic.

Fox Rage Speedflow II Landing Net

 width=

Tell Me About It

Available in Medium (50cm), Large (70cm) and XL (90cm) this landling net features rubber mesh, which ensures that the treble hooks used in most predator fishing won't rip your net when they snag, and is designed to give the very best support and care to these beautiful, delicate creatures, which, despite their fearsome looks, are quite fragile once they're removed from their element; in addition to buying this landing net, remember to ensure you have a good quality unhooking mat, that's large enough to hold a big pike, and deeply padded, to ensure that a thrashing fish doesn't damage itself on the bank.

The Fox Rage Speedflow II is a landing net designed for the angler on the move, with a foldable hinged rim, and retractable handle, offering easy storage and optimum transportability, whether in a tackle bag as you're stalking the bank, or in the boot of your car.

The net also features a flattened front lip, allowing you to easily and safely net large fish with an action that allows them to slide naturally into the net, lessening the likelihood of damage, injury, or stress during the netting and landing process.

What Are People Saying About It?

While it's a shame that the Speedflow II Landing Net isn't supplied with a stink bag, the feeling among predator anglers is that this is a strong, practical net, with the rubber mesh being a sensible design choice, and the net itself feeling heavy enough to give you  complete confidence when you're handling large, fiesty fish.

Fox Rage Pro Shad Natural Classics

With real skin patterns in bright, attention grabbing lures are an effective winter tactic, and will encourage takes from sluggish predators.

Bright colours give a striking, subsurface flash that mimics the shimmering scales of small bait fish, encouraging predators out of hiding, and, hopefully, onto your hook.

Even if you swear by natural baiting with lives or deadbaits, having a couple of quality lures in your angling arsenal is a wise choice, and may save you from the frustration of a session spent blanking. If nothing else, the skill involved in manipulating a lure effectively through the water is part of the fun of angling.

What Are People Saying About It?

Predator anglers like the good looks of these lures, although there's a bit of disappointment that you only get one lure for the price; however, the single lure that you get is top quality, with a highly realistic design that's all but guaranteed to bring you bites, even in the depths of winter.
